2026-2027 Europa League: Milan vs. Benfica, Probable Lineups

Milan vs. Benfica is undoubtedly one of the marquee matches of the first matchday of the Europa League group stage, scheduled for 9 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rossoneri have drawn their last two league matches against Juventus and Lazio, and Amorim is looking for a strong response from his team. The Eagles, on the other hand, are on a roll in the league with five wins in their last five matches and are in second place behind league-leading Porto.
Amorim will make significant changes to the lineup, also with an eye toward next weekend: young Hutchinson could start alongside Cissé. Gonçalo Ramos will once again lead the attack, while in midfield Musah will partner with Jashari. Chukwueze and Bartesaghi will play on the wings. Pulisic is expected to start on the bench again, as are Modric and Rabiot.
Pavlidis will be the main threat at San Siro, with Benfica’s three attacking midfielders—Rafa Silva, Prestianni, and Schjelderup—behind him. In midfield, former Bayern player Palhinha will partner with Barreiro.
Milan vs. Benfica: Probable Lineups
MILAN (3-4-2-1): Maignan; Terracciano, De Winter, Pavlovic; Chukwueze, Musah, Jashari, Bartesaghi; Hutchinson, Cisse; Gonçalo Ramos. Head Coach: Amorim
BENFICA (4-2-3-1): Samuel Soares; Banjaqui, Araujo, Lenglet, Dahl; Barreiro, Palhinha; Rafa Silva, Prestianni, Schjelderup; Pavlidis. Head Coach: Marco Silva
“Our goal is to go all the way; there are many competitive teams,” said Amorim on the eve of the match. “What makes the difference is having a roster worthy of the name. Everyone must do their part. We’re Milan; there’s no such thing as a minimum goal. If you don’t win, you’re criticized. We have to win every game to avoid criticism.”
