No luck for John Stones: The English defender, who joined the team this summer from Manchester City, suffered a muscle injury during the league match against Udinese, which will force him to sit out for a while.

Medical tests he underwent at Humanitas in Rozzano on Thursday morning ruled out injuries to his thigh flexors but confirmed a muscle strain: the medical staff will reevaluate him in the coming days and monitor him during the international break.

Stones has frequently suffered from muscle problems over the past two seasons, and Inter wants to take every precaution. He was injured in the 62nd minute against Udinese after sprinting to catch up with Udinese forward Davis. “John Stones underwent clinical and diagnostic tests this morning at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano. The tests revealed a muscle strain in his left thigh flexors. His condition will be reevaluated in the coming days.”

Stones will therefore miss next weekend’s league match against Roma. Cristian Chivu, coach of the Italian champions, hopes to have him back after the international break, which will be particularly long this year (20 days).
