Controversy Surrounds Castellanos: Former Lazio Player Accused of a Disgraceful Act on the Field

Taty Castellanos has found himself in hot water following the Premier League match between Millwall and West Ham, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The former Lazio forward, now with the Hammers, is accused of spitting at the home team’s goalkeeper, Filip Marschall.

The incident occurred in the 65th minute of the English league match, with Millwall leading 2-0. Marschall had the ball at his feet, ready to clear it, and Castellanos stepped in to pressure the goalkeeper. Cameras captured the Millwall goalkeeper complaining loudly, pointing out a stain on his jersey to referee Paul Tierney. After the match, reporters were informed that Millwall had filed a complaint with the match officials.

If Castellanos’s conduct is confirmed, he faces a suspension of up to six matches, based on previous precedents. “I’d be extremely surprised if Filip filed a complaint and nothing came of it. I’m sure the authorities will look into it,” said Millwall coach Neil.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo added: “I’m aware of the allegation. I haven’t seen the footage, and I haven’t spoken with Taty. I can’t say anything else—I’m sorry. To respond, I need to see the footage. I’ll watch it. I can’t comment right now.” Castellanos played for Lazio for three seasons, scoring 22 goals in 98 matches across all competitions.
