Ducati: Pecco Bagnaia Performs Better Than Expected—Clear Comments After the Race

Ducati rider Pecco Bagnaia, speaking to Sky, commented—visibly relieved—on his sixth-place finish in the Sprint race at the Austrian Grand Prix. After a very tough week, and a Friday that ended with him in the bottom positions, the Piedmontese rider managed to find the solutions to finish among the leaders.

“We’re improving quite a bit right now. Yesterday was a bad day in the time attack, but our race pace wasn’t that bad. Today we took another small step forward; we managed to improve in the time attack as well, even though we can still do better and find a little something more for Sunday.”

The other Ducati riders all complained of a lack of grip: “The soft tire has more grip than the medium; we’re struggling to figure out how to get traction the way we always have on this track, but since we all have the same problem, maybe it’ll be easier to find a solution.”

“Will it be a good race on Sunday? We’ll give it a shot; it’ll be long and difficult. Our race strategy will be different—we’ll need to manage things carefully in the early stages. Right now, Acosta is the better rider, but maybe we’ll also be able to take a small step forward and fight for sixth or seventh place.”
