Ducati: Marc Marquez Reveals His Nightmare During the Race: “I Saw Myself Hitting the Wall”

It was a truly difficult Sunday for Marc Marquez, who had to settle for fifth place in the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix. The Ducati rider, who had managed to secure second place in Saturday’s Sprint race, struggled throughout the main race due to a technical issue with his bike.

“We already knew as early as Friday that it would be harder to compete than at Aragon and Misano, but I still had the pace to stay up front. From the first lap, however, I realized there was a problem with the front brake lever.”

This issue forced him to ride very cautiously throughout the race: “At every braking point, the lever was in a different position, so I found myself making mistakes without actually having made a mistake. At Turn 1, I almost hit the wall—I braked where I always do, but the lever was all the way back. At least after that, the lever was more stable and allowed me to score some important points.”

Despite the problem, Marquez limited the damage and is now trailing Jorge Martin by 12 points in the world standings: “We struggled here; we have a different rear tire compound. But we have to work without panicking because we’re right in the thick of the World Championship battle.”
