Leao in the crosshairs of Galatasaray fans: Harsh criticism is already pouring in on social media

He was certainly hoping for a very different start to his adventure in Turkey. Leao, welcomed as a hero by Galatasaray fans, is already under scrutiny. So far, the talented Portuguese player has made very little of an impact on the field, confirming that he’s having some trouble adjusting.

In Galatasaray’s latest disastrous outing against Trabzonspor (a 4-0 loss, with three goals by Salah), the former Milan forward was completely ineffective on the field. Despite playing the entire match, he failed to make a contribution worthy of his reputation.

After the game, many Galatasaray fans took their frustration out on him on social media. Many criticize him for his “lack of aggression,” while others are more forgiving and believe that “we’ll soon see the real Leao.” What is certain is that Leao needs to break his scoring drought as soon as possible to avoid ending up in the eye of the storm.

Still searching for his first goal in his new jersey, Leao is staying the course (as he has always done throughout his long tenure at Milan). Now, thanks to international breaks, he’ll have the time and opportunity to reflect on these first few games with Galatasaray so he’ll be ready when the Turkish league resumes. On October 11, at home, Galatasaray will face Kasimpasa, one of the surprise teams of this early stage of the Super Lig.
