An Extraordinary Final Round: Jacob Bridgeman Wins the Biltmore Championship

Jacob Bridgeman won the inaugural Biltmore Championship, a tournament held in Asheville, North Carolina, and the opening event of the PGA Tour’s Fall Series. For the 26-year-old from Inman, South Carolina, this is his second victory of the season, following his win at the Genesis Invitational in February.

Bridgeman started the final round in fifth place, five strokes behind leader Neal Shipley. Shipley, however, who was chasing his first PGA Tour victory, struggled early on, even recording his first two bogeys of the entire week.

Bridgeman immediately capitalized on this. Over the first ten holes, he carded three birdies and an eagle, taking the lead in the tournament. In the second half of the round, he picked up the pace even further with five more birdies, finishing with an extraordinary 61 and a total of -26.

Ben James finished behind him in second place at -24 after also carding a final-round 61. Third place at -23 went to Neal Shipley and Ricky Castillo, while Jackson Koivun and JT Poston tied for fifth at -21. Poston shot a 60 and, on the 18th hole, just missed the putt that would have allowed him to finish with a 59.

With this victory, Bridgeman became the sixth player to win more than one title on the PGA Tour this season. The win also comes just a few days before his debut with Team USA in the Presidents Cup, scheduled for September 24–27.

The next event in the FedEx Cup Fall is the Bank of Utah Championship, scheduled for October 1–4.
