Juventus Transfer Market: Neto Signed—The Terms of the Deal

Norberto Neto Murara is Juventus’ new goalkeeper. The Brazilian, born in 1989, who is returning to Turin after nearly 10 years, was chosen by the Bianconeri management to replace Kamil Grabara, who suffered a serious injury that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

The Old Lady reacted immediately, drawing from the pool of free agents: Juventus executives decided to sign the former Botafogo goalkeeper to a contract running through 2027.

At 37, Neto brings experience and reliability as backup to starting goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario—a much-needed reinforcement for Juve as it navigates multiple competitions. Neto has previously played for Fiorentina, Barcelona, Valencia, Arsenal, and Bournemouth. He spent two seasons at Juventus, from 2015 to 2017, winning five trophies—including two Serie A titles—as the backup to Gianluigi Buffon.

Kamil Grabara has successfully undergone surgery to reconstruct the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be sidelined until the end of the year, when he will return to Wolfsburg.

Neto was not the only option considered by the Bianconeri management: in recent hours, other free agents had also been evaluated, including former PSG player Sergio Rico, Cape Verdean Bruno Varela, Dutchman Jasper Cillessen, and Alessio Cragno. The latter, a 32-year-old former Cagliari player with 170 Serie A appearances to his credit, represented a reliable option with an impressive track record, but in the end, the scales tipped in favor of the Brazilian, who had the advantage of already being familiar with the Juventus environment. According to reports, coach Luciano Spalletti’s approval was also a decisive factor.
