Carlos Alcaraz Makes a Candid Admission About Jannik Sinner

During an interview with El Pozo Alimentacion—for which he serves as the official global ambassador—Carlos Alcaraz once again spoke about his rival Jannik Sinner, whom he hasn’t faced in nearly five months, since the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 final.

“Which tennis player has a shot that I’d like to have? There are many—there are many players who have shots I’d love to have. But above all, I’d say I’d love to have some of the shots that Jannik has,” said the Murcia native.

Back at the US Open after a long hiatus due to a wrist injury, Alcaraz is now competing in the Laver Cup, where he faced Alexander Zverev, the recent US Open champion. “He’s probably the best player in the world right now, and having him on our team will be a great asset we can use over the weekend,” said the Spaniard, who will play alongside the German on Team Europe.

In 2026, Zverev won the first two Grand Slams of his career, triumphing at Roland Garros and the U.S. Open and making the most of the physical struggles both champions have faced this season.

Mischa Zverev, Alexander’s brother, strenuously defended Sascha’s victories against criticism from those who pointed out the absences of Sinner and Alcaraz: “Where were they? Why weren’t they there? Because they were injured. Why do they get injured? Because, in some way, they aren’t strong enough, or because they pushed themselves too hard, or because they don’t rest when they need to.”
