Cantù Defeated in Venice; Vitucci: “Let This Be a Lesson to Us”

Pallacanestro Cantù suffered a loss in its season opener on the first day of the LBA championship: Venice prevailed 85-73 at the Taliercio. After a difficult start, the team from Brianza tried to mount a comeback but were unable to do so.

After the game, Coach Frank Vitucci had this to say: “The start of the game certainly had a significant impact and set the tone for the match. We then fought back with some effort and even had chances to close the gap, but Venice punished our mistakes. We gave up too much in one-on-one situations and in the paint. On offense, we squandered too many chances.”

“We need to work on these aspects quickly, because we expect a performance more in line with our potential. We hope this game serves as a lesson for us.”

“We saw some positive signs, but there are key players who I’m sure can do more as the season progresses. We don’t have much time, but we’ll try to adjust our system with that in mind.”
