In basketball, Artificial Intelligence predicts Sunday’s results: Will it be right?

The first day of the Serie A basketball season has already provided some early indications. In yesterday’s early games, Treviso handily defeated BC Roma 109-94, while Venice beat Cantù 85-73. Trento, meanwhile, secured an away victory, winning 83-78 on the road against Reggio Emilia.

Today’s schedule is rounded out with five more games. At 4:00 p.m., Olimpia Milano hosts Trieste. The home team has greater depth and enters as the favorite, although Trieste possesses the qualities needed to stay in the game. We expect Milano to take control, especially in the second half. Prediction: Milan–Trieste 88–78.

At 5 p.m., Derthona takes on Verona. The Piedmontese team can capitalize on their experience and home-court advantage, while Verona will need to try to slow down their opponents’ pace. Derthona seems to have a few more options at its disposal. Prediction: Derthona vs. Verona 84-76.

The Udine vs. Scafati matchup, scheduled for 6:00 p.m., is much more uncertain. The Friulian crowd could be a key factor in a game we expect to be close right down to the final possessions. We’re giving the home team a slight edge. Prediction: Udine-Scafati 81-78.

At 6:15 p.m., it’s time for Maxima Roma vs. Napoli. Here, too, the game could be close, but Rome, playing in front of its home crowd, may find the energy needed to secure its first win of the season. Prediction: Maxima Roma vs. Napoli 86-82.

The day will wrap up at 7:00 p.m. with Varese vs. Virtus Bologna. Virtus enters the game with a slight edge in terms of roster quality and depth, but Varese will try to turn the game into a fast-paced contest. Bologna remains our favorite. Prediction: Varese vs. Virtus Bologna 82-91.
