The MotoGP World Championship is entering its decisive stages, and Marc Marquez is preparing to implement a new strategy to defend his world championship title. The Catalan rider is currently 12 points behind overall standings leader Jorge Martin and arrives in Japan with a clear plan.

“Now I have to attack at every turn, on every track,” declared the star rider from Cervera. “If something like what happened in Austria happens again, I’ll have to salvage what I can. But right now, every point counts,” said the Ducati rider, who is chasing his tenth world title. “I’m taking it race by race, day by day. Right now, my goal is to make it into Q2; tomorrow will be another day.”

On his physical condition: “My job is to manage my energy from Thursday through Sunday. After the Sprint in Austria, I was focused; I was trying to conserve as much energy as possible for Sunday because I knew it would be a long race.”

Márquez also revealed that Ducati has identified the cause of the brake issue that hampered him at Spielberg, preventing him from finishing higher than fifth in Sunday’s race: “They’ve figured out what the problem is; I’m confident they’ll fix it. We’ll try to do our best; the important thing is to always be there, on the front row and fighting for the podium.”
