Carlo Calcagni Awarded Honorary Citizenship of Torre San Patrizio

Carlo Calcagni

In the heart of the Marche region, in the Fermano area, a community has chosen to pay tribute to a man who was able to transform suffering into a testimony, sports into a tool for rebirth, and sacrifice into a message of hope. In the Council Chamber of the Municipality of Torre San Patrizio, a small historic village in the Fermano area, Colonel Carlo Calcagni was awarded honorary citizenship by the community of Torre San Patrizio.

The municipality, drawing on its own history and identity, freely decided to welcome Calcagni among its citizens, bestowing upon him an honor of profound human and symbolic value. Torre San Patrizio, a village of ancient origins that has preserved over time the character and memory of its centuries-old history, thus sought to demonstrate its solidarity with Calcagni and the values he has championed.

The Honorary Citizenship was conferred by the mayor, Prof. Luca Leoni, in the presence of local authorities, including Fabio Fabrizi, Captain of the Carabinieri Company of Montegiorgio.

The citation for the award highlighted values such as courage, strength, unity, sacrifice, hope, and love for life, along with a commitment to justice and civic responsibility. The ceremony also highlighted the true meaning of sports and the example set by a man who transformed a situation capable of upending an entire life into a journey marked by determination, strength, and rebirth.

What made the award even more meaningful was the fact that it came from Torre San Patrizio itself—a community that, without any obligation toward Carlo Calcagni, spontaneously chose to welcome him as one of its citizens and to publicly recognize the value of his story and his testimony.
