Davide Brivio lashes out at Marc Marquez and Martin: “I’m not surprised”

The crash at the first corner of the Indonesian Grand Prix sparked controversy at the end of the race in Mandalika. At the start, Marco Bezzecchi and Raul Fernandez crashed, ending their races just a few seconds later. Trackhouse team principal Davide Brivio, furious over what happened to Fernandez, clearly placed the blame for the incident on the track.
The two title contenders, Jorge Martin and Marc Marquez, are in the crosshairs: “It seems that Martin and Marquez were extremely aggressive at the first corner. They wanted to gain as many positions as possible. It was too aggressive a move for the first corner, but I’m not surprised,” he told the official MotoGP channel.
Aprilia’s technical director, Fabiano Sterlacchini, on the other hand, did not want to blame anyone: “What happened was simply a racing incident resulting from unfortunate circumstances. It’s a shame because both Bezzecchi and Fernandez would certainly have had a great race. Let’s focus on making up for it tomorrow—there are even more points up for grabs.”
Marc Marquez analyzed the start this way: “It was a very critical moment; I hadn’t imagined it would go like that. Four bikes were side-by-side. Bezzecchi was watching where Raul was braking, I was watching Bezzecchi, and Di Giannantonio was watching me—and so the four of us went into a very long straight, and Martin moved up from fifth to first.”
