The draw between Arezzo and Cremonese wraps up Saturday’s Serie B action: the standings

The most recent Serie B match on Saturday ended in a 0-0 draw: Arezzo and Cremonese were unable to break the deadlock, despite the home team having the opportunity to play with a man advantage for the final half-hour after Giuseppe Pezzella received two quick yellow cards. Arezzo thus moves up the standings again after their pre-break loss to Südtirol, while Cremonese recorded their third straight draw in the league following draws with Cesena and Entella.
The match in Arezzo wasn’t the only 0-0 draw of the day: Südtirol and Ascoli also played to a scoreless draw in a tense match from start to finish, though neither side was able to find the decisive breakthrough. The Virtus Entella vs. Juve Stabia match also ended in a draw, but with a score of 1-1: the “Vespe” took the lead in the 47th minute with a goal by Di Nardo, but the Ligurians equalized at the very last moment, in the 96th minute, with a goal by Corona.
Meanwhile, Benevento secured the only home victory of this Saturday in Serie B: the Giallorosse “Witches” defeated Cesena 2-0, thanks to goals by Siatounis in the 25th minute and Cherubini in the 93rd minute. In between, a potential 1-1 equalizer by Bisoli in the 51st minute was ruled out for offside following a review in the VAR room.
League-leading Palermo then secured an away win, defeating Empoli 4-2: Saporiti’s penalty kick in the 50th minute gave Empoli the lead, but Palermo responded with goals from Pohjanpalo in the 57th minute, Palumbo in the 65th, and Johnsen in the 69th. Another penalty kick, this time converted by Popov in the 79th minute, brought Empoli back into the game, but Cassandro sealed the victory in the 88th minute. Finally, rounding out Saturday’s action was Pisa’s decisive 3-0 victory on the road against Vicenza: Pittarello scored in the 19th minute, Calabresi in the 48th, and Rao in the 92nd.
