Lazio and Monza will face off at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico at 3:00 p.m. in a match counting toward Matchday 6 of Serie A. Gattuso’s Biancocelesti head into the match with 13 points in the standings, following a very strong start to the season. In the opening rounds, they recorded four wins and one draw—results that have allowed the team to climb into the upper echelons of the standings.
Milan put the brakes on Lazio’s run, coming back from an early two-goal deficit to win thanks to a brace by Moreira. This result prevented the Biancocelesti from maintaining a perfect record, but it hasn’t dampened the ambitions of Gattuso’s squad.
Monza, led by Ivan Juric—who knows the Roman stadium well from his time on Roma’s bench—is coming to the Olimpico. The Brianza-based team heads into the match off the back of an important 2-1 home victory against Aquilani’s Sassuolo. Those three precious points brought the team’s total to 4 in the standings and lifted them out of the relegation zone.
Monza will now look to build on their success from the last matchday, aiming to snatch points from Lazio as well. The hosts, for their part, are aiming to get back on track immediately and keep dreaming of a spot at the top of the league.
