Serie B: Verona Loses in Modena. Mantua in Second Place; Padua Defeated

Baroni’s Verona still can’t get going: Hellas lost 3-2 in Modena in one of Sunday’s matches on Matchday 6 of Serie B. After taking the lead on a goal by Caso in the 13th minute, the Canarini were caught and overtaken by a two-goal performance from Modena’s Mosquera in the 24th and 28th minutes, but in the second half they turned the game around with goals from Montevago and Gallo Belotti, which came after Edmundsson was sent off for a second yellow card. In the standings, Verona sits ninth with 7 points, while Modena climbs to third place with 13 points.
In the other two Sunday matches, there were two road wins: Mantova defeated Catanzaro, while Carrarese pulled off a major upset in Padua. The Virgiliani defeated the Calabrians with goals from Tomasevic, Ruocco, and Bragantini: the home team’s coach, Gorgone, faces the possibility of being fired after his team’s fourth loss in their last five matches. Mantova sits in second place, two points behind league-leading Palermo.
Carrarese secured its first victory in Serie B with a 2-0 win over Padova, thanks to goals from Rubino and Rouhi. Following this loss, Padova remains in tenth place with seven points.
