Venice Loses at Home to Virtus; Spahija: “That’s an interesting statistic”

Reyer Venezia lost at home to Virtus Bologna in their Serie A Matchday 3 game. After a strong start at the Pala Taliercio, the Orogranata were outplayed by the Vu Nere, who ultimately prevailed 93-86. Among Reyer’s standouts were the game’s top scorer, Wiltjer, with 20 points, and Watson with 18.
After the game, Coach Neven Spahija had this to say about his team’s performance: “Congratulations to Virtus on the victory. I can’t fault my team: we gave it our all and faced a very strong team head-on.”
Spahija highlighted a specific statistic: “I want to say one thing: this is the first game of my career in which I’ve seen my team take only six free throws. It may be that this is how it should be, but scoring 80 points off the field and taking only six free throws is a notable statistic for us. Right now, I can’t say we’re in a slump, but it’s obvious that we need to work to get back to winning.”
For Reyer, this is their first league loss after victories in the first two rounds against Cantù and Trieste.
