The top Spanish league also features its Monday night match: At 9 p.m., the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia will host the Matchday 8 clash between home team Levante and Sevilla, two teams at opposite ends of the standings. Referee Adrian Cordero Vega, a 42-year-old from Santander, will officiate the match.

Levante went into the long international break in decidedly rough shape: their only win of the season came on August 29 against Betis, a surprising 5-2 victory that, however, remained a one-off. They picked up two more points from 0-0 draws against Osasuna and Málaga, while their three losses were particularly crushing: a 3-0 loss at Espanyol, a 4-2 loss to Barcelona, and a 3-1 loss on the road against Villarreal in their last match before the late-September/early-October break.

On the other hand, Sevilla failed to pick up any points only in their matches against the two top teams they’ve faced so far: Atlético Madrid (a 3-1 win for the Colchoneros) and Barcelona (the same result in their last match before the break). They have, however, recorded four wins: 2-1 against Rayo Vallecano, 3-1 in Bilbao against Athletic, 1-0 at home against Valencia, and the same score in La Coruña against Deportivo. Their only draw came on the road against Espanyol, with a final score of 1-1.
