2026-2027 Premier League: Coventry vs. Newcastle, Probable Lineups

Matchday 6 of the 2026–2027 Premier League concludes with the classic Monday Night match, which will see two teams currently in the lower half of the standings—Coventry City and Newcastle United—face off on Monday, October 12, at 9:00 p.m. Italian time. The match will be played at the Coventry Building Society Arena, with 36-year-old Leicestershire native John Brooks serving as referee.
The Sky Blues, coached by Frank Lampard, secured their first win of the season just before the break, defeating Nottingham Forest 1-0 at home on a goal by Dasilva early in the second half. Their last home win came on April 26 in the Championship against Wrexham (3-1): on that occasion, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Victor Torp, and Ephron Mason-Clark found the net; all three remain on the roster this year and are available to the former West Ham and Chelsea midfielder.
On the other side are the Magpies, who, after getting a taste of the top echelons of European soccer, have experienced a season of readjustment and are continuing along the same path this year: they have yet to find their identity, as evidenced by the alternation between impressive results and spectacular defeats, such as the one in their previous away game at Leeds, where the 4-1 final score raised more than a few questions about Newcastle coach Matthias Jaissle, who was, however, “saved” by the 2-1 win over Hull City before the break.
