Atlético Madrid and Manchester United face off at 9 p.m. in their Matchday 2 clash of the Champions League group stage. Diego Simeone’s Colchoneros lost their opener at Liverpool, while the Red Devils won in a 4-0 rout of Sabah Baku. But right now, the two teams are in very different situations: Atlético is coming off four straight wins in La Liga, while United hasn’t won in four matches and Carrick is already under pressure.

David leads Simeone’s attack, with Baena, Lee, and Alvarez behind him in the attacking midfield. In midfield, Llorente partners with Barrios.

Cunha leads the attack for Manchester United, supported by Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, and Rashford. In midfield, Tielemans partners with Mainoo, while the fullbacks will be Dalot and Shaw.

Atlético Madrid vs. Manchester United: Probable Lineups
Atlético Madrid (4-2-3-1): Oblak; Pubill, Romero, Hancko, Grimaldo; Llorente, Barrios; Baena, Lee, Álvarez; David. Coach: Simeone.
Manchester United (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martínez, Shaw; Tielemans, Mainoo; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Rashford; Cunha. Coach: Carrick.

On the eve of the match, Simeone admitted he doesn’t buy into United’s slump: “We’re facing an opponent that applies intense pressure in our half of the field, closing us down quickly, and that has fast players. Despite their recent results—including many draws—they continue to pose the same kind of threat as last year. They’re a strong team.”
