Allianz Milan, Ten Years of History: The New Team Is Unveiled

Allianz Milano
Ten years of volleyball, two European Cups, and an ever-stronger bond with the city. Allianz Milano looks ahead to the 2026–2027 season by celebrating its journey and renewing its athletic and social ambitions. The official presentation of the new team took place at the Allianz Tower in CityLife, where the roster, coaching staff, and new Erreà-designed jerseys were unveiled.
The team’s tenth year in Milan and eighth alongside Allianz served as the central theme of the event, accompanied by the slogan “10 years with Milan. Ghe sem!”. This message reflects the club’s commitment to continuing its journey in the Lombard capital, combining competitive success, a focus on youth, and community-oriented initiatives.
“Ten years ago, we embarked on a journey that has led us to become an ever-greater part of the city,” recalled President Lucio Fusaro. “A great deal has changed over this decade: the players and coaches have changed, and we’ve achieved important results—including two European Cups—but our commitment to building something meaningful in Milan has remained intact.”
Fusaro also emphasized the value of the partnership with the sponsor and with the organizations that support the club in its community-focused projects. “Allianz Milano doesn’t want to be just a volleyball team, but a project that lives within Milan, that engages with the local community, and that creates opportunities through sports, especially for young people.”
The 10th-anniversary season kicks off with a major change: Guillermo Falasca is the new head coach of Allianz Milano, following the conclusion of Roberto Piazza’s long tenure. He is the first foreign head coach in the club’s history.
The Spanish head coach, who won a European title as a player and has coaching experience in France, the SuperLega, and Poland, will be joined by assistant coach Davide Delmati, strength and conditioning coach Alessandro Guazzaloca, and new scout Salvatore Nicastro. The medical and physical therapy staff has been retained.
The roster combines international experience, established players, and young talents looking to carve out a role in Italy’s top league. The captain will once again be libero Damiano Catania, 25, now in his fourth season in Milan. At his side will be Jacopo Corbetta, who came up through the Diavoli Rosa youth system.
The biggest name among the middle blockers is Cuban Robertlandy Simon, one of the most recognizable stars in international volleyball. The lineup will also feature the returning Alessandro Benacchio and newcomers Filippo Bartolucci and Davi Tenorio. Among the outside hitters, while awaiting Francesco Recine’s return from injury, the team can count on Japan’s Tatsunori Otsuka and Belgium’s Seppe Rotty—both returning players—as well as Tommaso Ichino and Bulgaria’s Georgi Tatarov.
The setter position will be handled by the experienced Santi Orduna and the young Simone Porro, who is set to make his SuperLega debut following in the footsteps of his brother Paolo. At opposite, the team will feature Belgian Basil Dermaux—who holds a points record in the Champions League—and young Federico Argano, a world champion in his first season in the top flight.
