After an encouraging start, Inter fell behind at San Siro against Bruges. The goal was scored by Nicolò Tresoldi, a forward born in 2004 with a Rossoneri heart and a future still hanging in the balance between Italy and Germany. It was a goal with special significance for the young center forward, who has never hidden his loyalty to the club and who scored twice more in the second half to complete a sensational hat trick.
His pre-match comments to Sky Sport left no room for doubt: “For me, it’s a derby; it’s always been my dream to play at San Siro. Playing against Inter—especially for me, as a Milan fan—is even better; it’s a dream. I hope to enjoy these 90 minutes and have as much fun as possible.”
A statement that confirms his connection to the Rossoneri colors, as his father Emanuele—a former Atalanta defender—had already mentioned that morning. When asked about his son’s future and the possibility of seeing him play in Serie A one day, his father explained: “Maybe so. His dream is to wear the Milan jersey.” And regarding the possibility of a transfer to Inter, his response was just as clear: “I’m not at all sure he’d accept it. His fan loyalty might prevail.”
In addition to his loyalty to Milan, the question of national team eligibility remains open. Nicolò Tresoldi, born in Cagliari in 2004, has the option to choose between Italy and Germany—two countries to which he feels a deep connection. During the last international break, Roberto Mancini commented on this dual nationality: “He said he feels 50% Italian and 50% German. Let’s hope that by June he’ll be 51% Italian and 49% German.”
Since 2023, the forward has played for Germany’s Under-21 team, for which he has made 26 appearances and scored 16 goals. This journey has allowed him to develop as a player in German soccer while maintaining his Italian roots. Born in Cagliari, Tresoldi moved to Gubbio as a child, following his father, who was also a soccer player. In 2017, at age 13, he moved with his family to Hannover, Germany. There, he came up through the local team’s youth academy, making his debut in the German second division in 2022.
In the summer of 2025, he transferred to Bruges, where he won the Belgian league title and the Super Cup. Now, with his goal against Inter at San Siro, Tresoldi has taken center stage once again, making no secret of the dream he holds in his heart: to one day wear the Milan jersey.
