Tyler Dorsey is out of Olympiacos; Olimpia Milano is keeping an eye on the situation

Olimpia Milano is closely monitoring the Tyler Dorsey situation. The Olympiacos guard has found himself at the center of an increasingly delicate situation after publicly expressing his dissatisfaction with his playing time and contract renewal negotiations. This scenario could open up interesting transfer opportunities for Peppe Poeta’s team, which is seeking new ways to boost its offensive potential, but it also presents financial hurdles that are far from negligible.
Tensions erupted after Olympiacos’s road win over Valencia Basket, a game in which Dorsey played for just five minutes and was not used at all in the second half or overtime. The forward vented his frustration on social media, questioning how his role was being managed and wondering why the club wouldn’t let him leave if he was no longer considered central to the team’s plans. The Greek club’s reaction was immediate: Dorsey was excluded from the EuroLeague road game against Barcelona and sent back to Athens, where he will be required to explain his behavior. This decision has inevitably fueled rumors about his future, although no termination of his contract—which runs through June—has been announced at this time.
Coach Georgios Bartzokas stepped in to clarify Olympiacos’s position; on the eve of the game against Barcelona, he chose not to fuel the controversy, reiterating the need to protect the team. “I never speak ill of anyone who has worn the Olympiacos jersey, and I’m not going to start now,” declared the Greek coach, avoiding comment on the specifics of the player’s accusations. Bartzokas then clarified what his priority is: “Above all else comes the team, and I must embody this principle more than anyone else.” Regarding the guard’s future, the coach left the door open to various scenarios, clarifying that the next decisions will be up to management.
The main obstacle for Milan remains financial. According to rumors circulating in Greece, Olympiacos reportedly offered Dorsey a multi-year contract extension worth approximately 2.7 million euros per season over the summer, while the player’s reported demands allegedly reached as high as 4 million euros annually. These figures have not been officially confirmed and would make the deal particularly complicated for Olimpia, especially with the season already underway and rosters largely set. For a transfer to be feasible, Dorsey would therefore need to revise his demands, or favorable conditions would need to be created for a separation from Olympiacos, including through an agreement on the handling of his remaining salary.
