Inter: Beppe Marotta Speaks Clearly About the Qatar Investment Fund and Passes the Buck to Oaktree

Ahead of the Bologna-Inter match, Inter president Beppe Marotta spoke again about the home loss to Bruges: “The Champions League? Even those teams that, until a few years ago, were in the third or fourth tiers have improved in terms of soccer culture. So there are no pushovers—every team gives you a run for your money. But since statistics matter, I want to point out that PSG didn’t make the top eight, had lost three games in a row, had to go through the playoffs, and then went on to win the title.”
“We need to analyze these two losses, examine the negative aspects, and pursue a strategy that leads to improvement,” the Nerazzurri club’s CEO continued in an interview with DAZN.
A question about rumors of interest from Qatar in acquiring a stake in Inter was inevitable: “That’s not within my purview. The Oaktree fund has demonstrated through actions that it stands by Inter—not just with words but with concrete steps, such as investments in the stadium, Appiano, and Interello. We’re in good hands; Oaktree has also given the financial statements a boost. We’re in safe hands—I don’t know what decisions they’ll make, but they’ll certainly make them for the good of Inter and to strengthen the club’s past, present, and future.”
