Cagliari Transfer Market: It’s Not Over Yet—A Free Agent Is in Their Sights

Cagliari made a total of 13 signings during the transfer window that just closed. Tommaso Giulini and Pietro Accardi have bolstered Fabio Pisacane’s squad with Romano, Akarakiri, Fazzini, Winks, Kofler, Maldini, Kevin Carlos, Fadera, Ciervo, Gagliardini, Massolin, Sugawara, and the last-minute signing Nzola.
However, the Sardinian club’s president could give Pisacane one final reinforcement, and according to French media reports, it could be Krépin Diatta. A right winger who can also play as a winger or fullback, the Senegalese player is currently a free agent following his stint at Monaco and is looking for a new home. He has received several offers from Arab clubs, but his intention is to continue his career in Europe, and Cagliari could be the one to make it happen.
Having come up through the ranks at Oslo FA in Senegal, Diatta played in Norway for Sarpsborg 08 between 2017 and 2018 before moving to Club Brugge. In Belgium, he had the best seasons of his career so far, after which Monaco invested nearly 17 million euros to sign him in 2021.
At Monaco, he played primarily as a fullback, but with Club Brugge he was deployed closer to the opponent’s goal and scored 11 goals during the 2020–2021 season. At Cagliari, he could rotate with Ze Pedro and Yukinari Sugawara on defense or play further up the field alongside either Jacopo Fazzini or Daniel Maldini if Pisacane wants to give the team more width.
