Sampdoria’s crisis shows no signs of ending. The loss to Arezzo marks yet another difficult period for the Blucerchiati, who have been unable to turn things around after the disappointments of recent seasons. Bernardo Corradi’s team remains stuck in last place in the standings, tied with Catanzaro at 4 points, while the fans’ frustration grows; they had already harshly criticized the players during the match at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium.

After the crushing 4-1 loss to Avellino, Sampdoria was expected to bounce back. The Blucerchiati had even managed to take the lead through Liam Henderson, but they were unable to hold on to the lead, first conceding an equalizer by Arena and then the decisive 2-1 goal scored by Chierico in the 60th minute.

As the minutes ticked by, tension in the stands mounted. In stoppage time, fans in the South Stand threw several smoke bombs onto the field, forcing referee Colombo to halt the match for a few minutes. The situation did not improve even after the final whistle. The protests continued with chants and boos directed at the players, who bore the brunt of the frustration of an increasingly exasperated fan base.

Bernardo Corradi’s position is inevitably under scrutiny after yet another negative result. Sampdoria needs a turnaround to climb out of the bottom of the standings, and the possibility of a coaching change is becoming increasingly likely.

Among the names that could enter the running to succeed him is Michele Mignani, a coach with experience in Serie B. Another possibility is Luca D’Angelo, who has also been linked to Catanzaro, a team also grappling with a complicated situation in the standings. The name of Roberto D’Aversa is also being mentioned in discussions; he could be an alternative to help revive the Blucerchiati.
