The news had been circulating for several hours, and now it’s official: Bernardo Corradi is no longer Sampdoria’s head coach. The coach is paying the price for Sunday’s loss at the Ferraris Stadium against Arezzo, which further worsened an already very complicated situation in the standings.

The Blucerchiati have lost five of their first seven Serie B matches—a devastating record that has relegated them to last place with just four points, tied with Catanzaro. It’s been a season to forget, accompanied by fierce criticism from the fans, who have made their dissatisfaction with the team’s performance abundantly clear.

The Sampdoria club announced the decision in an official statement, thanking the coach and his staff for their work. “U.C. Sampdoria announces that it has relieved Bernardo Corradi of his duties as head coach of the first team. The club wishes to thank Corradi for the dedication he demonstrated during his time with Sampdoria and also extends its gratitude to assistant coach Massimo Mutarelli and technical staff member Stefano Fiore. The new head coach and coaching staff will be announced in the coming hours.”

As for his successor, the name at the top of the list is Marco Giampaolo. The former Cremonese coach could return to Genoa, where he has already led Sampdoria during two separate stints. His first stint spanned three years from 2016 to 2019, while his second tenure began in January 2022 and ended in October of the same year.
