Cristiano Cattelan, a resident of Creazzo—a town in the province of Vicenza, just a few kilometers from the provincial capital—has died at the age of 31. The young man passed away from cancer that had been diagnosed just a few months ago. The news of his passing has sparked an outpouring of grief among family, friends, and acquaintances, especially in the music and soccer communities—two of his greatest passions.

Born in Bulgaria, Cristiano arrived in Italy at the age of three after being adopted by Valerio Cattelan and Francesca Polo, who had also welcomed his older sisters, Gloria and Veronica, into their family. Raised in Creazzo, he worked as an employee at a company in Altavilla Vicentina and was in a relationship with his partner, Gaia.

In his free time, he devoted himself mainly to music and soccer. He was known as a DJ and helped organize and host parties and events, including those aimed at younger audiences. He had also played soccer as a goalkeeper, starting in the youth division of Union Olmo Creazzo, where he played up through the junior level. He later continued playing soccer with Elisir and on several eight-a-side soccer teams.

His death has also deeply affected the local sports community. Union Olmo Creazzo honored the former goalkeeper with a message posted on social media, highlighting his unique playing style and the bond he maintained with the club. The municipal administration also expressed its condolences to the family.

Cristiano Cattelan’s funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of San Marco in Creazzo.
