Roberto Bernabai Has Died: Iacopo Savelli’s Heartfelt Tribute

The world of sports journalism mourns the passing of Roberto Bernabai, a familiar face on Telemontecarlo and La7 for decades. Among his colleagues paying tribute to him is Iacopo Savelli, who worked closely with Bernabai at TMC for years.
“To say that I loved you is an understatement because you were a brother, a wonderful friend, a good, decent, sincere, and sensitive man,” Savelli wrote on Facebook.
“I wasn’t prepared for it all to end in a flash—because it really was a flash—but at least your suffering was brief, and you passed away without even realizing it. It’s not fair—not to you, not so young. I’ll miss you so much, dear Roberto—your memories, your laughter, the many happy moments, and the many difficult moments when you were always there for me, truly. A piece of my life dies with you, but in the life I have left, I’ll carry you with me. Farewell, Rob, have a safe journey.”
Born in Rome on February 6, 1956, he took his first steps in the profession in 1975, contributing to various periodicals. Between 1985 and 1990, he worked as a radio commentator and host for several regional stations in Lazio, before joining the sports desk at TMC. Starting in 1992, he began hosting news programs and shows dedicated to sports, later continuing his career at La7.
