Milan heads to England to build on its European run following its win over Salzburg and its league victory against Atalanta. At Vitality Stadium, however, the Rossoneri face a Bournemouth team with a perfect record in the competition, determined to capitalize on home-field advantage to continue its winning streak.
After a stumbling start in their opener against Benfica, Ruben Amorim’s team bounced back with a decisive 4-0 win in Austria, demonstrating a strong ability to create and convert scoring chances. The win against Atalanta bolstered the team’s confidence, although the dip in performance during the final half-hour of the match highlighted some vulnerabilities and the risks associated with the high-intensity style of play demanded by the coach. The match in England will therefore be an important test to assess the team’s condition and its ability to maintain intensity even on the road. The match between Bournemouth and Milan will be broadcast exclusively on Sky, on the Sky Sport channel (252).
Bournemouth, led by Marco Rose, has, on the other hand, gotten off to a great start in European competition, defeating Real Sociedad and Sturm Graz. The German coach has retained several of the tactical principles established by his predecessor, Andoni Iraola, focusing on high pressing, pace, and quick vertical passes. This attacking style allows the English side to create numerous chances but requires defensive focus to prevent opponents from finding space. In the Premier League, however, their performance has been less convincing so far, with just one win in the first seven matchdays.
Amorim is considering a major lineup shake-up compared to the team that took the field against Atalanta. Milan will have to do without Chukwueze and Gonçalo Ramos, who both remained in Milan. In defense, there could be a four-man backline, with Tomori on the right, Estupiñán on the left, and De Winter and Pavlovic in the center. In midfield, the coach could give Rabiot and Modric a rest, relying on Musah and Jashari in the center, with Moreira on the right wing and Loftus-Cheek on the left. Up front, Cisse has been tested from the start, with Hutchinson playing behind him. Camarda could also be deployed in the attacking midfield role. Bournemouth, on the other hand, is expected to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Adams and Christie in midfield and Ryan, Tavernier, and Rodriguez playing behind lone striker Evanilson.
Probable lineups:
Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Smith, Hill, Silva, Truffert; Adams, Christie; Ryan, Tavernier, Rodriguez; Evanilson. Head Coach: Rose.
Milan (4-4-1-1): Maignan; Tomori, De Winter, Pavlovic, Estupiñán; Moreira, Musah, Jashari, Loftus-Cheek; Hutchinson; Cisse. Head Coach: Amorim.
