Catanzaro has officially fired Giorgio Gorgone following a heavy home loss to Ascoli. The Giallorossi club has decided to part ways with the coach in light of an extremely difficult start to the season and a league standing that calls for an immediate turnaround. Management is now tasked with finding a new head coach to try to turn things around and reignite the team’s hopes of avoiding relegation.
Among the names being considered to succeed Gorgone is Michele Mignani, who is currently a free agent following his stint as head coach of Cesena during the 2025–2026 season. The coach represents an experienced option for Serie B and could receive an offer through the end of the season, with an option to renew tied to the team’s success in avoiding relegation.
Also still in the running is Fabio Caserta, who knows Serie B well and has already worked in situations characterized by the need to achieve urgent goals. Less likely, however, are the possibilities involving Leonardo Semplici—fresh off his stint with Sampdoria during the 2024–2025 season—as well as Fabrizio Castori.
