Ilic: Is His Loan Already Over? His Physical Condition

Bad news for Ivan Ilic and Lecce. Exams conducted after the match against Bologna revealed a tear in the rectus femoris muscle of his left thigh, and further tests performed the following day also detected a partial tear of the tendon, worsening the severity of the injury sustained by the Serbian player, who is on loan from Torino.
Ilic will therefore undergo surgery: the procedure is scheduled for Tuesday at Pihlajalinna Hospital in Turku, Finland. The surgery will be performed by the renowned surgeon Lasse Lempainen. The Salento-based club has not yet announced a specific return date for the player, who will be sidelined for an extended period.
“U.S. Lecce announces that soccer player Ivan Ilic, following the injury sustained during the match against Bologna, underwent further in-depth diagnostic tests that confirmed a myotendinous injury to the left rectus femoris muscle with a partial tendon tear. On Tuesday, the player will undergo surgery at Pihlajalinna Hospital in Turku (Finland), which will be performed by Prof. Lasse Lempainen.”
Ilic had joined Lecce during the final week of the summer transfer window: Torino loaned him out on a free transfer, with a buyout clause in favor of Lecce set at five million euros. Prior to the transfer, the midfielder renewed his contract with Torino, which was set to expire in 2027.
