A terrible loss for Lionel Scaloni: his mother has died

Lionel Scaloni has suffered a terrible loss in the last few hours: his mother, Eulalia Marzetti, has passed away. She had been battling a serious illness for some time and died at her home in Pujato, in the province of Santa Fe, where she lived with her husband, Ángel.
“The AFA, along with its president Claudio Tapia, extends its condolences to coach Lionel Scaloni and his entire family on the passing of his mother, Eulalia Marzetti. A brotherly embrace from all Argentines to Gringo and his loved ones during this difficult time. Stay strong!” reads the post shared on social media by the Argentine Football Association.
According to Olé, the head coach of the Argentine national team is traveling to his hometown to say his final goodbyes to his mother in an intimate ceremony reserved for family and close friends.
After the 2021 Copa América final, which Argentina won against Brazil, Lionel Scaloni paid tribute to his mother—who had suffered a stroke shortly before—during a press conference: “I want to dedicate this to my mother, who had a rather serious health issue a few days ago and is fighting for her life.”
Eulalia Marzetti lived her entire life in Pujato, where, together with her husband Ángel, she raised three children: Lionel, Mauro, and Corina. For several years, she served as the town’s justice of the peace, a role that kept her closely connected to the community where she lived.
