Salernitana: A surprise name is being mentioned as Cosmi’s successor—he was fired two days ago

Among the names being considered by Salernitana for the head coaching position, Giorgio Gorgone has emerged as a surprise candidate, having been fired just a few days ago following a crushing 6-1 defeat. The candidacy of the former Catanzaro coach is decidedly unexpected, yet he has reportedly made it onto the list of possibilities being considered by the Granata management.
Sporting director Daniele Faggiano is evaluating several candidates, with the goal of identifying the most suitable coach to turn the team’s fortunes around. Much will depend on the club’s decision: whether to rely on an experienced coach or to bet on an up-and-coming candidate.
In the first case, the leading candidate would be Mimmo Toscano, who already worked with Faggiano in Catania two years ago. The coach, however, would like to receive specific guarantees regarding both the contract and the technical aspects before considering a potential deal. Vincenzo Vivarini, who was already approached in recent weeks, remains a possibility as well.
If, on the other hand, Salernitana decides to look to the future, Fabio Prosperi’s candidacy would gain traction; he is particularly highly regarded by Faggiano, who has frequently attended the Granata’s matches in person in recent months. Emanuele Troise is also awaiting further developments and is ready to consider a potential offer from the club.
In recent hours, there have also reportedly been contacts with Vito Di Bari. Di Bari, too, was recently dismissed from his position at Casarano last week.
