Jannik Sinner, the tennis guru, hails the revolution: “It will last a long time”

The possible appointment of Magnus Norman as Jannik Sinner’s new coach continues to garner support. Following rumors that the Swede will join the South Tyrolean’s coaching staff for the 2027 season, alongside Simone Vagnozzi, Brad Gilbert has also offered a very positive assessment of the coach who is expected to take over from Darren Cahill.
The former coach of Andre Agassi and Coco Gauff, speaking on Tennis Channel’s “The Big T” podcast, emphasized above all Norman’s personal qualities, noting that his personality and experience make him the ideal fit for an already established team. This is a crucial factor for Sinner, who has built a winning system in recent years and has no need to disrupt that balance.
“I had said that I didn’t see a chance for Juan Carlos Ferrero. I had a feeling it had to be someone calm, and that’s exactly what Magnus is,” Gilbert explained, referring to rumors about possible candidates to succeed Cahill.
The Swede’s profile bears several similarities to that of the Australian coach, particularly in his ability to work without disrupting the team’s dynamics and his experience at the highest levels of tennis: “He’s very similar to Cahill; he has a wealth of experience and did an incredible job with Stan Wawrinka,” added the American tennis guru, expressing his support for Norman joining Sinner’s team.
“I think he’s an excellent choice for Jannik. He could potentially stay with him for a long time, and he’s someone who’s easy to get along with. I believe he’ll work well with the other team members, too,” Gilbert concluded.
