Olimpia Milano Reaches an Agreement with Leandro Bolmaro

Olimpia Milano and Leandro Bolmaro will continue together through 2029: According to *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, the Milan-based club and the Argentine point guard have reached an agreement to renew his contract.
According to the Milan-based newspaper, the agreement was reached during several meetings held in recent days. Bolmaro, who joined the team in the summer of 2024, had signed a four-year contract with Milan, with an opt-out clause for the summer of 2027.
La Gazzetta dello Sport does not provide details on the two-year extension or any potential clauses within the contract, though it notes that should an NBA franchise make an offer, “it is likely that Olimpia has taken steps to better protect itself.”
Bolmaro himself had already addressed the topic of his future last September, on the sidelines of the club’s presentation of a new partnership. The player had deferred the matter to his entourage: “That’s not my business; I just focus on playing. You’ll have to talk to my agent; I’m only interested in playing, and then we’ll see what happens.” Even then, the NBA option was considered a possibility: the Argentine has played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Utah Jazz, though he didn’t make much of an impact.
The contract extension rewards a player who was among the key contributors to the Biancorossi’s successes last season. Bolmaro was voted the best defender in the Italian league and helped the team win the Super Cup and the Italian Cup. In the final against Bertram Tortona, which they won 85-77, he was decisive in the fourth quarter with clutch points and defensive plays. In the 2026 LBA playoffs, he went on to win the Best Defensive Player and Sixth Man of the Year awards, earning a spot on the competition’s Dream Team with averages of 13.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 21.6 minutes per game.
The deal comes at a difficult time for Olimpia, which, after eight EuroLeague games, has secured just one win against seven losses. In the league, the home loss to Virtus Bologna (98–94 in overtime, after leading by as many as 19 points) left the Red-and-Whites with 4 points, four points behind the league leader.
