2026-2027 Serie A: Milan vs. Inter—Probable Lineups and Where to Watch It on TV

Kickoff is set for 8:45 p.m., when San Siro will host the Madonnina Derby between Milan and Inter, who face off in a match where much more than just three points are at stake for the winner. The match comes at the height of a special week for Milanese soccer, marked in part by the unveiling of plans for the new stadium—the future facility set to replace the Meazza starting in the 2031–2032 season. Live TV coverage will be simulcast on DAZN and Sky Sport (also available via streaming on Now).
The current situation, however, features two teams with different motivations: Amorim’s Milan is looking to bounce back from a 4-2 loss to Bologna, while Chivu’s Inter aims to consolidate its lead in the standings and extend its advantage over its city rivals. There’s already been a matchup this season: a friendly played on August 5 in Perth that ended in a 1-1 draw, with Dimarco giving Inter the lead and Nkunku equalizing late in the game (Nkunku later returned to Leipzig in the final days of the summer transfer window).
The most important news from Milan comes from the injury report: Amorim welcomes back Gila, Rabiot, and Moreira—three players returning to action who expand his options ahead of the derby. The Portuguese coach seems intent on sticking with the 4-4-1-1 formation already tested against Bologna and further refined in recent training sessions. Gila is expected to start on the right side of the defense, while Rabiot should play behind Gonçalo Ramos. Moreira, on the other hand, is a candidate to start on the right side of the midfield. Modric and Musah are also expected to start.
No tactical surprises for Inter, who will line up in their usual 3-5-2 formation. Chivu brings Mkhitaryan back into the starting lineup, preferring him over Zielinski to complete the midfield alongside Barella and Calhanoglu. Up front, with Lautaro still sidelined, the strike partnership of Thuram and Pio Esposito will start, while Bonny will begin on the bench. In goal, Josep Martinez is expected to return after Provedel started the last two matches.
