Parma Pulls Ahead, Gilardino Celebrates: A Winning Hat Trick at Atalanta. The Serie A Standings After Matchday 10
Parma secured its first victory since Gilardino took the reins of the team, and did so in a decidedly convincing fashion on the road against an Atalanta side that is becoming increasingly unrecognizable: The final score was 3-0 for the Ducali at the New Balance Arena, a result that lifts them out of the relegation zone and marks their first road win of the 2026-2027 season.
The Nerazzurri, in fact, should have scored to make it 0-0 after eight minutes, but Zappacosta—whose shot was saved and whose rebound Krstovic put into the net—was offside. Atalanta maintained constant pressure in the opponent’s half, but late in the first half, on their first real foray, it was Parma who struck: in the 41st minute, Sierro’s cross into the box found Fabbian completely unmarked, and he headed home to make it 1-0 for the Gialloblù.
Just under two minutes into the second half, the home team doubled their lead in dramatic fashion: Fabbian found Touré, who crossed the ball into the box, Zappacosta deflects it with his knee, beating his own goalkeeper, Carnesecchi, and gifting Gilardino’s team the second goal. The decisive blow came in the 58th minute: Fabbian set it up again, the ball reached Lontani, who, after nutmegging the hapless Pasalic, finished to make it 3-0.
Atalanta wanted to at least salvage some pride, and chances were plentiful: the most spectacular one fell to Pasalic’s head in the 79th minute, but the Croatian’s header crashed off the crossbar. The final push yielded nothing more: Atalanta is left to deal with yet another winless match (their last league win came on October 12, a 3-1 victory over Venezia), while Parma can smile again after a difficult stretch.
