2026-2027 Champions League: Manchester United vs. Roma—Probable Lineups

Manchester United and Roma face off tonight at 9 p.m. at Old Trafford in Matchday 4 of the Champions League group stage. The two teams are coming into the match in very different situations. The Red Devils are struggling badly: in Europe, they’ve earned just three points in their first three matches, while in the Premier League they sit in 17th place with only seven points after nine matchdays and are coming off three straight losses.
Roma, on the other hand, has earned four points in the Champions League, thanks to a draw with Fenerbahçe, a loss to Real Madrid, and a convincing win over Slovan Bratislava. The Giallorossi are also coming off a convincing 5-2 victory over Udinese in league play.
Michael Carrick is expected to stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation, with Cunha leading the attack and a quality trio behind him consisting of Mbeumo, Bruno Fernandes, and Tielemans. In midfield, Mainoo and Andrey Santos are set to start. The Red Devils need to bounce back after a nine-game winless streak across league and cup competition.
Gasperini is expected to field a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Mancini returning to the starting lineup in defense. In midfield, Pisilli is expected to start alongside De Roon, while the battle for the right-side spot remains open between Lulli and Molina. In the attacking midfield, the Soulé-Cristante duo will play behind Malen, who is confirmed as the main striker. Svilar, Dybala, and Koné have not yet recovered.
