Sunderland secures Brian Brobbey. The English club announced the contract extension for the Dutch forward, who has extended his deal through 2031. This move confirms the Black Cats’ commitment to the 24-year-old, who has become one of the team’s key players since his arrival from Ajax in the summer of 2025.

Brobbey has carved out a leading role thanks to his physical strength, speed, and ability to trouble opposing defenses. Among his most notable performances was the hat trick he scored last September on the road against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. This feat made him the first Sunderland player to score three goals in a single Premier League match since Jermain Defoe did so in 2016.

“I’m really happy with the confidence the club has shown in me. Ever since I arrived, I’ve sensed this club’s ambitions, and I want to continue to grow and improve as a player,” the forward said after signing. “Representing Sunderland in the Premier League is an honor and a privilege. Having helped the club qualify for European competition is something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s an achievement that will forever remain in the club’s history.”

However, the Dutchman has no intention of resting on his laurels: “I know I can become an even better version of myself, and that’s what motivates me every day. I want to score goals, help the team, and give our fans something to be proud of.”

Sporting director Florent Ghisolfi also expressed his satisfaction: “We’re very happy that Brian has decided to commit his future to Sunderland. This agreement reflects our mutual confidence in what we can achieve together and our shared desire to continue improving.”

“Brian possesses important qualities, and we’re convinced he still has plenty of room to grow. Our responsibility is to support him on his journey and challenge him every day so that he can reach his full potential and contribute to the team’s success,” added Ghisolfi, emphasizing the striker’s importance to the club’s technical project.

Having joined from Ajax on September 1, 2025, Brobbey has so far made 40 appearances and scored 10 goals in all competitions. These numbers convinced Sunderland to secure his long-term future with the club, with the goal of continuing his development both in the Premier League and on the European stage.
