Milan Transfer Market: Camarda to Leave in January—Three Serie A Clubs Are Interested in Him

Francesco Camarda has failed to impress Milan coach Ruben Amorim and needs to find more consistency to continue his development. He’ll do so with another Serie A team, but it won’t be Lecce, for whom he played last season.

Parma in particular—which, incidentally, won convincingly in Bergamo on Monday—as well as Genoa and Monza (and this isn’t the first time for the Brianza-based club) have already expressed interest in the young forward: even Sampdoria has made an approach, but the Milan-based club has no intention of sending the youngster down a division.

Camarda has seen virtually no playing time in the first part of this season: in Serie A, he has only played brief stints, totaling 36 minutes. In the Europa League, he played a full hour in the victory over Salzburg, but failed to score any goals or provide any decisive assists.

Yet the summer for the 2008-born player had begun with very different prospects. After a season on loan at Lecce—which ended with just one goal and was hampered by an ankle injury—Milan exercised its buyback option in June to bring him back to Milan effective July 1. In the friendly match in Glasgow against Celtic, which ended 2-2, Camarda scored twice (earning and converting a penalty, then heading in a goal off an assist from Chukwueze). Amorim commented: “I have great faith in him and in our young players, and he must stay with us. I can already confirm that Camarda will remain with us this season.”

During those weeks, Milan had rejected loan requests from several clubs, including Cagliari, Monza, Parma, and Sassuolo, as well as some English teams, making it clear that it would not consider offers with a buyout clause. The player had extended his contract through 2031, and the club had opted against pursuing another alternative to Gonçalo Ramos precisely to facilitate his gradual integration into the team.
