Celtic and Besiktas have had vastly different European campaigns so far and will face off Thursday evening at 9 p.m. at Celtic Park in Matchday 4 of the Europa League group stage. Martin O’Neill’s team has yet to earn any points in the standings following losses to Ferencváros, Benfica, and Celta Vigo. The story is quite different for Vincenzo Italiano’s squad, which has collected seven points in its first three matches, defeating Marseille and Hoffenheim and drawing with Crystal Palace.

O’Neill may make changes to the attacking lineup, with Hogh a likely candidate to lead the front line. Nygren remains one of the most promising options in the attacking midfield, while Baur and McGregor are expected to start in midfield. There are some concerns, however, regarding Tierney’s condition, as he came off the field injured in the last match.

Beşiktaş heads to Glasgow aiming to extend its unbeaten streak in European competition. Italiano is expected to stick with the 4-1-4-1 formation, with Vlahovic leading the attack and Ndidi shielding the defense. On the right wing, Cerny is in contention for a starting spot, while the back line will have to do without the suspended Umit Akdag. Orkun Kokcu’s condition also remains to be assessed.

Probable lineups

CELTIC (4-2-3-1): Johnstone; Donovan, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Tierney; Baur, McGregor; Duran, Nygren, Tounekti; Hogh. Head Coach: O’Neill.

BESIKTAS (4-1-4-1): Nubel; Murillo, Agbadou, Topcu, Yılmaz; Ndidi; Cerny, Ozcan, Olaitan, Trossard; Vlahovic. Head Coach: Italiano.
