Jannik Sinner and Darren Cahill—it’s really over: a new era begins

A bond that extends far beyond the tennis court, forged day after day through hours of training, grueling trips, unforgettable joys, and moments of deep understanding: with a heartfelt message on his social media channels, Jannik Sinner officially bid farewell to Darren Cahill, marking the end of one of the most successful and meaningful professional and personal partnerships of recent years.
The journey that began in 2022 comes to an end after five seasons together—a journey during which the Australian coach not only guided the Italian to the pinnacle of world tennis but also helped him grow as an athlete and as a man. “Darren,” Sinner began, “when we started working together, I was just a kid with a little talent and a lot of questions. You never gave me all the answers—you helped me find them on my own.”
“You came to coach me, and very quickly you became much more than a coach,” he added. “You were a confidant, someone I could count on, a friend. Melbourne, the No. 1 ranking, Wimbledon… I could go on forever. We’ve achieved so many goals together. You told me you’d retire after 2025, but somehow it felt like I just couldn’t ‘get rid’ of you. But the trophies aren’t what I’ll remember most: it’s everything else that happened along the way that I’ll carry in my heart.”
