Cagliari Returns to Winning Ways: Adopo Knocks Out Frosinone

Cagliari defeated Frosinone 1-0 thanks to a first-half goal by Adopo. The Rossoblù returned to winning ways after a hard-fought match, with Caprile playing a decisive role in the second half in defending the lead.
Cagliari and Frosinone faced off at the Unipol Domus without much hesitation. Both teams immediately went on the attack, and chances arose in the opening minutes. In the 2nd minute, Birligea, from an excellent position, sent a header over the bar. Cagliari responded in the 9th minute, but Adopo’s pass to set up Trepy in the box is too short.
Within three minutes, Maldini and Trepy for Cagliari and Cichella for Frosinone all had chances, but none found the back of the net. In the 23rd minute, Birligea tries again, but his diagonal shot toward the left post of Caprile goes wide. At the half-hour mark, the teams slow down the pace and often try to bypass the crowded midfield by relying on long passes.
In the 38th minute, Trepy collected a long pass and exchanged a give-and-go with Adopo, who beat Palmisani from distance to make it 1-0 for the Rossoblù, closing out the first half. In the second half, Cagliari was the first to come close to scoring: Mendy, following a corner kick, tried a backheel shot, but Palmisani, at the near post, saved the day for the Gialloblù. Shortly after, Caprile responds, diving to stop Calò’s close-range shot.
Chances become fewer, but Frosinone has a flash of brilliance in the 73rd minute: Caprile tips Cichella’s sure-fire shot onto the crossbar. Shortly after, Zé Pedro blocked a point-blank shot by Birligea. In the 90th minute, Carlos had a golden opportunity to seal the match, but with only Palmisani to beat, he shot way over the bar. Frosinone continued to send long balls forward, but the three minutes of stoppage time weren’t enough. Cagliari picks up three points and climbs to 8th place with 16 points, while the Gialloblù remain in 6th place with 20 points.
