Pecco Bagnaia on a stretcher, terrifying crash in the sprint race: red flag

There was a scare at the start of the MotoGP Sprint race due to a very serious crash involving Francesco Bagnaia and Fermin Aldeguer. The Italian rider went down during the first lap, at the braking zone for Turn 16, after being struck by the Spaniard’s bike. It was a particularly violent collision, with Pecco literally being thrown into the air before crashing back down onto the asphalt.
The race had begun with an excellent start by Marco Bezzecchi, immediately ahead of Marc Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Bagnaia himself. The Ducati rider was trying to bounce back from a difficult weekend and seemed to have finally found a good rhythm. However, everything came to an abrupt halt at Turn 16, when Aldeguer ran wide and collided with the Italian’s bike.
Race control immediately waved the red flag, halting the Sprint race during the second lap. Silence fell over the stands as medical personnel rushed to assist Bagnaia.
Fortunately, initial reports ruled out the most serious immediate consequences: Pecco was conscious and was transported on a stretcher to the medical center for the necessary examinations. His condition still needs to be assessed in detail, given the severity of the impact and the dynamics of the crash.
Meanwhile, race officials announced that the Sprint race would resume at 5:15 p.m. Italian time. The race was shortened to 10 laps, and the starting grid remained unchanged, with Bezzecchi ahead of Marquez and Di Giannantonio.
