Negotiations for the extension of Hakan Calhanoglu’s contract with Inter are becoming more complicated. The Turkish midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season, but at the moment, an agreement with the Nerazzurri remains a long way off. According to the latest reports, initial talks between Inter’s management and agent Gordon Stipic have yielded no progress.

The two sides remain far apart on financial terms: Calhanoglu wants a two-year extension with a salary of around 6 million euros per season, while Inter has made a more modest offer, citing his physical issues in recent seasons and his advancing age.

President Beppe Marotta has played down the rumors, but in the meantime, several clubs have inquired about the Turkish player’s situation. Calhanoglu reportedly has suitors in Italy as well: both Juventus and Como are said to be considering him ahead of next season.

The Turkish player remains a crucial asset for Chivu, who has fielded him in 8 league matches (the former Milan player has scored 3 goals).

In recent days, speaking to Sky Sport ahead of the Champions League match against Feyenoord, Marotta ruled out any cause for concern regarding expiring contracts, explaining that the only player currently in this situation is Calhanoglu, with whom the club maintains an excellent relationship. The No. 20’s contract expires in June 2027, and contract renewal will be one of the issues to be addressed in the coming months.

As for Como, the rumor was first floated by Carlo Pellegatti during an appearance on “Pressing”: “Believe me, I know where Calhanoglu is headed if he leaves Inter next year. Let me spell it out: he might not go to the mountains, but maybe he’ll head to Lake Como.” For now, this is merely a rumor, with no confirmation of any negotiations between the Como-based club and the player. As for Juventus, however, Antonio Cabrini has publicly identified the Turkish playmaker as a possible target for the Bianconeri should a deal with Inter fall through: “He could change the face of the team,” the former fullback stated in the pages of Tuttosport.
