Slovakia-Romania, the probable formations

A match worth more than just honor. Slovakia and Romania face each other Tuesday night in Bratislava, with kickoff at 8:45 p.m., after both endured elimination in the semifinals of the UEFA playoffs toward the 2026 World Cup. It will be important to pick up a good result both for Francesco Calzona’s men, who will play in front of the home crowd, and for those of veteran Mircea Lucescu, who is even back from an illness suffered in training: “I got angry after reviewing our match with Turkey, now I’m fine,” he assured.
Calzona will send his Slovakia on the pitch with the only forward, presumably Strelec. Behind him Haraslin and Sauer, while at the heart of the maneuver will be the untouchable Lobotka. With him will be Duda, while on the lanes will act Bero and Hancko.
Romania will also take the field with a single striker, Birligera, supported, however, by three midfielders: Man, Hagi and Mihaila. Several names known to Serie A fans among the players chosen by Lucescu, including Marin in the middle of the field and Radu between the posts.
Probable lineups
SLOVAKIA (3-4-2-1): Dubravka; Valjent, Vavro, Obert; Bero, Lobotka, Duda, Hancko; Sauer, Haraslin; Strelec. C.T.: Calzona.
ROMANIA (4-2-3-1): Radu; Ratiu, Dragusin, Burca, Bancu; Marin, Dragomir; Man, Hagi, Mihaila; Birligera. CO: Lucescu.
