Laura Pirovano, Elena Curtoni and Asja Zenere are back at the scene of the “crime”: the La VolatA slope in Val di Fassa. The three Azzurre were the stars of the extraordinary weekend of the women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup in early March, in which Laura Pirovano from Spiazzo Rendena in Trentino won her first two downhill races, beating her rivals by just one hundredth of a second; where Valtellina’s Elena Curtoni returned to the top step of the podium in super-G after a long fast due to a long injury ; where finally Vicenza’s Asja Zenere, again in super-G, got her first World Cup podium by only one hundredth of a second.

In addition to the three protagonists of the fast races in the San Pellegrino Ski Area from Monday and until Thursday, April 2, the Gardena sisters Nadia and Nicol Delago from Val Gardena and Roberta Melesi from Lecco are also training on La VolatA. Accompanied by the technical manager of the Italian national team Giovanni Feltrin and followed by the Fisi technicians, the blue ladies of the fast disciplines have been doing a series of daily trainings on skis without the stress of preparing the next race, working on new technical aspects and testing new materials as well.

“Coming back to La VolatA – said Laura Pirovano – is always beautiful. We are all very fond of Val di Fassa and the Cup track that gave us priceless emotions. Going back to the two victories I still have to realize how much I have done, because day after day we always kept the focus on the next race. I am looking forward to relaxing and trying to give emotional meaning to what this season has been for me. An unforgettable winter that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I like to point out that we are a very strong team, and our great strength is that we can take examples from the many elements of the team. We spur each other on and are a daily stimulus to each other. And all this is priceless.”

Elena Curtoni also focused on the return to victory and her season: “The victory in the super-G for me represents a great redemption. I really wanted to return to the top step of the podium. I had come close with a series of fourth places after my injury, but winning has a special flavor. I wanted to show that I could still manage to finish in front. After two good performances in the two downhill runs, I approached the day of the super-G a little chest-thumping. I wanted a strong result at all costs and I succeeded, thanks to my determination and high-level skiing. After the Olympics every day I ask myself the question whether to continue competing or to stop, because I would not like to have any kind of regrets, also because knowing me I always want to give 100 percent., but I have not made a final decision yet.”

Also full of enthusiasm Asja Zenere. “How magical that Sunday. – She states – I knew I had a good run, but I never expected to be on the podium. Everything went perfectly that day. I will never forget those moments. Now, however, I have a decision to make about my knees, which is whether to face a new surgery or not, but I guess I have no alternative.”

And also taking part in the toast organized by Ski Area San Pellegrino President Mauro Vendruscolo was bronze medalist in the parallel giant slalom at the recent Olympics as well as winner of the World Cup parallel slalom 2026 Lucia Dalmasso, who lives right in Falcade, on the Veneto side of Ski Area San Pellegrino. This days’ will not be the last training of the blue speed athletes on the La VolatA slope, because their presence has also been scheduled on April 13 and 14 for material testing.
