Olimpia Milano: last call for Euroleague play-in, need to win with Paris

Olimpia still has a faint hope of nabbing a spot in the Euroleague play-in. At the moment, the red and white occupy 13th place in the overall standings, with a perfectly even record: 17-17. Tenth place, occupied by Monaco, is two wins away. With four games still to be played, mathematics does not yet condemn Coach Poeta’s team, which, however, cannot make any more mistakes.
Today (2:45 p.m. ball), EA7 will take the lead on the court of Paris Basketball. The Parisians have nothing more to ask from the Euroleague (they are out of the running for the post season) but are experiencing a great moment of form, certified by the recent victory on the court of Virtus Bologna. The number one danger is Hifi, one of the best scorers in the entire Euroleague.
“Paris Basketball is a team with a clear identity that wants to play at a high pace, has the three-point shot and offensive rebounds their strengths along with the ability to hit in the first seconds of the action. We will have to be able to hinder their energy in the first seconds of the possession, work well on defensive rebounds and play a balanced offense that does not generate turnovers because those can enhance their transition,” Coach Poeta’s words a few hours before the match.
In Olimpia’s house, everyone available apart from Dunston and Flaccadori. Spotlight on Guduric. The former Fenerbahce player is expected to rev up the engine to prove he is the man for next season as well. There are only three previous records, all concentrated in the last two seasons, with the home court factor always respected. The total therefore is 2-1 for Olimpia, which won 86-77 in the Milan game with 13 points from Devin Booker.
